Viola Davis to Star in ‘Fences’ Film Adaptation

August Wilson’s classic play Fences is headed to the big screen, and Viola Davis has scored one of the leading roles.

The actress, who played Rose Maxson in the Broadway production that landed her two Tony awards, will reprise her part for the movie.

“They are making Fences, August Wilson’s play, into a feature…I’m going to be in,” she told The New York Times.

In addition to Davis’ role, Denzel Washington, who portrayed Troy Maxson in the Broadway show, will direct the flick.

No other cast announcements or release dates have been publicized, so stay tuned.
