As the Hollywood Film Awards approaches, founder and executive producer Carlos De Abreu, expresses his excitement for recognizing this years acting talents that are on their road to discovery and stardom. He announced the recipients of this year’s “Hollywood Spotlight Award” are Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station), Sophie Nelisse (The Book Thief), and David Oyelowo (Lee Daniel’s The Butler).
Jordan, after receiving raving reviews from his portrayal of Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station, can be seen in That Awkward Moment, which is scheduled for release in January 2014. The trained stage actor Oyelowo can be seen on the big screen in the Nina Simon biopic Nina and portraying Sugar Ray Robinson in Sweet Thunder.
The Hollywood Film Awards, founded in 1997, were created to celebrate Hollywood and launch the awards season. The recipients of the awards are selected by an advisory team for their body of work and/or a film that is to be released during the calendar year. This year’s honor will be bestowed at the Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony on Monday, October 21 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
