After An Unprecedented Opening, ‘Wonder Woman 2’ Is Already In The Works

Wonder Woman just became the biggest box office opening for a female director EVER, which means a sequel is a go!

Wonder Woman dropped this past weekend. Pulling in over $100 million dollars in the box office, director Patty Jenkins just shattered records as a female director. The film is also the best reviewed to come out of the DC Extended Universe in years. With such delightful news, it’s no surprise that Warner Bros is already getting a sequel in formation.

Though a script has not yet been written for Wonder Woman 2, both Jenkins and Gal Gadot who slays as Diana Prince aka, Wonder Woman have signed on to participate. We don’t know much yet about the narrative, but we do know that Wonder Woman 2 will take place in the present day (Wonder Woman is set during World War I).

In the past, Jenkins has been vocal about discussing her plans for the follow-up, but in recent weeks she’s been a bit more subdued. She recently told The Hollywood Reporter,

“What I never want to do is start phoning it in and making things just to show that I can keep my foot in the door and do big movies. I don’t care about that at all. I just want to make great movies. And that could come from any direction. It might be a $10 million movie or it might be $200 million movie.”

With the numbers out now, Jenkins should be extremely proud. Up next in the DC Extended Universe is Justice League which is set to hit theaters November 17, 2017. Wonder Woman will kill the game in that film as well.
