The Boondocks Under New Management?

After a four-year absence from the airwaves, the return of The Boondocks is less than one month away.

Fans of Aaron McGruder’s cult cartoon were ready for more Ruckus, Huey, Riley and Granddad.

However according to a press release issued by Adult Swim earlier today, Boondocks creator, Aaron McGruder did not play a part in the production of season 4.  **cue pearl clutching**

“This season was produced without the involvement of Aaron McGruder, when a mutually agreeable production schedule could not be determined,” reads the release.

McGruder has yet to officially comment on the situation but took to the Facebook page of his newly developed series, Black Jesus, claiming the Boondocks page was hijacked and he had nothing to do with the March 14 announcement of the show’s return as the Root reported earlier this week.

But the sharp-witted cartoonist will still be busy:   McGruder announced the development of Black Jesus which is another collaboration with Adult Swim.

While the premiere date of McGruder’s newest project is unknown, season 4 of the Boondocks premieres on April 21 at 10:30 p.m. on Adult Swim. Check out the promo below.
