The chart-topping eccentric (and erotic) Rick James kicks off the four-episode season of Tv One’s Unsung, on Jan. 14.
The late James, known for his signature sound that fused R&B lyricism with funk and rock instrumentation, consistently maintained a large- than- life persona, eventually bringing in the soulful Teena Marie as his protégé.
The Unsung episode will detail the image that led to Rick James’ artistic success and, from family and friends, reveal the story that kept the man trapped inside the legend.
