Twitter’s trending topics have finally gained some legendary recognition.
On Saturday, singer-songwriter and all around music monarch Prince revealed some new material from an upcoming album. Though the title, release date and track numbers have yet to be released, one thing was made clear: it does have a song called “This Could Be Us.”
Those who are up to date with all things social media are familiar with the phrase. #ThisCouldBeUsButYouPlayin is a hashtag expression used to make comedic remarks on unappealing or awkward photographs of couples on social media platforms.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Prince explained that the song “was, indeed, inspired by the titular meme.”
In light of another possible Prince hit, Wednesday marks the 30th anniversary of Purple Rain, which is ranked as one of the best albums in music history. Among some of the most-loved tracks of the album are “I Would Die 4 U,” and “When Doves Cry.”
Maybe “This Could Be Us” will win over the hearts of his fans as well.
