Remember Pharrell’s controversial GIRL cover?
Well it appears Black Twitter hasn’t, and gave the hitmaker the side-eye when he released the cover for the album’s second single, “Marilyn Monroe,” Tuesday night.
Featuring a woman with a darker skin complexion than the trio featured on the album’s cover, the artwork’s introduction prompted responses suggesting Pharrell is trying to “make up” for his “oversight.”
Nonetheless, 16 hours later, Pharrell dropped the official music video which exhibits women with a plethora of skin tones gyrating and flipping their hair in unity to his R&B groove.
