It was a scenario that had the world’s attention.
O.J. Simpson, the white Ford Bronco SUV, police helicopters and every news station zoomed in on the chase that followed the murders of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in 1994.
The life that ensued for the former NFL player and double murder defendant, consisted of court dates, headlines and a public image that still mounts significance, even today: “If it doesn’t fit, acquit.”
Now, the story of O.J. Simpson who was acquitted of the murders, will make its debut on the small screen in FX’s American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.
The anthology series will be based off of Jeffrey Toobin’s book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson and scheduled to begin production in early 2015 with Oscar winner, Cuba Gooding, Jr. starring as the jailed Simpson.
In its first season, viewers will get have access to the behind-the-scenes workings of the court room decision and the trial from the perspective of the lawyers involved. Also covered will be the relationship between the LAPD and the African-American community, which played a role in the jury’s “reasonable doubt.”
Simpson is currently a serving time in Nevada for various felonies.
