Back in January, Oprah Winfrey signed on as the producer for Ava DuVernay’s Martin Luther King Jr. film, Selma. Now, the mogul is moving from behind the camera to in front of it as a member of the cast!
Selma takes us back down memory lane to the Civil Rights movement, and specifically highlights the marchers who walked from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 to fight for their voting rights.
Winfrey will play 54-year-old Annie Lee Cooper, a woman known for punching the racist sheriff Jim Clark after he denied her the right to register to vote.
The OWN creator will work alongside David Oyelowo, Cuba Gooding Jr., Common and Ledisi.
