BET got New Edition fans hype when the network dropped the first trailer for the upcoming three-part miniseries about the classic group during this year’s BET Awards.
While biopics can sometimes go awry, the first look definitely got NE loyalists excited about the project. One reason fans got on board so quickly? All of the members of the group were involved in the film.
“I can’t wait for the people to see it,” Bobby Brown, who serves as a producer on the project, said last month. “When you see these actors, it’s going to blow your mind.”
The other reason New Edition diehards can’t wait to see the film? The cast is AH-MAY-ZING.
The film stars Empire’s Bryshere Gray (Michael Bivins), Elijah Kelley (Ricky Bell), Algee Smith (Ralph Tresvant), Keith Powers (Ronnie Devoe), R&B singer Luke James (Johnny Gill), and newcomer Woody McClain (Bobby Brown).
To get folks even more amped up about the miniseries, BET just dropped an image of the cast recreating the classic album cover for Home Again, and the similarities are striking.
First, check out the original 1996 cover.
Now, peep the remix from the cast of the upcoming BET film.
Spot on, right?
While there’s no word on exactly when the New Edition Story will hit BET in 2017, we absolutely cannot wait to watch it all unfold.
