NeNe Leakes is a grandmother!
The 44-year-old reality star shares with In Touch magazine that her son Bryson, 22, and his girlfriend Ashley had a baby girl (the bloggers reported earlier this year that she would become a grandmother; Leakes refused to talk about whether or not there was a pregnancy on the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion earlier this year).
In a photo shoot with the magazine, Leakes shows off her new bundle of joy (Bri’asia), and reveals that her son and his girlfriend kept this a secret from her for most of their pregnancy.
“I only found out about everything because I ran into Ashley when she was more than six months along. I said, ‘You look pregnant.’ And she said, ‘Hasn’t Bryson told you?’ But he hadn’t because he knew that I wouldn’t approve of him having a child so young,” she says in the interview.
And her son may have kept mum for good reason. Leakes tells the magazine “I didn’t feel like he was ready for such a big responsibility. I was his age when I had him, so I know how tough it is. I didn’t want him to make the same mistakes that I did. I needed to let it sink in.”
Still, sounds like she’s jumped into her new role quite well. Ever the diva, Leakes has already outfitted her granddaughter in sparkly headbands and little Gucci shoes. (She tweeted that she’s a Glam Ma!)
“I paid for everything in the nursery: the clothing, the diapers. I don’t want her (Ashley) to feel strapped.”
