“12 Years A Slave” Receives Honors

"12 Years a Slave" earned nine Oscar nominations.

“One of the most exciting times in history for Black film” is how The Black Film Critics Circle (BFCC) describes this year’s unprecedented release of films within the African diaspora.

12 Years A Slave, directed by Steve McQueen has taken the lead in the onslaught of stellar theatrical motion pictures raking in Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Ensemble acknowledgements from BFCC.

Famed Madea director and actor, Tyler Perry received this year’s BFCC’s Pioneer Award with Fruitvale Station director, Ryan Coogler being recognized as a Rising Star.
