Misty Copeland is on a winning streak, and it is well deserved. On the heels of her promotion to principal dancer of the American Ballet Theater, the first Black woman to do so, the ballerina has joined the cast of Broadway’s “On the Town.”
She’s set to glide across the stage for two weeks starting Aug. 25 as Ivy in the musical about three sailors visiting New York City for the first time.
“I was contacted by them and they actually wanted me to go in pretty quickly, and it was all just ‘Oh my gosh, this is not something I ever thought I would do,’” Copeland told TIME. “If I’m going to be part of a Broadway show, I think this is the one.”
Congrats to Misty on her continued success. We know she’s going to wow.
