Chief Keef is being sued for child support by a middle school girl, reports TMZ.
The girl filed the petition in Chicago, claiming Keef, real name Keith Cozart, fathered a daughter with her in 2011.
The girl’s exact age is unclear, but according to court docs, she is definitely in middle school, so she probably about could have been as young as 11 or 12 when the child was conceived. According to TMZ, Cozart was allegedly 15 at the time.
In Illinois, it is considered a misdemeanor for two people under the age of 17 to have sex, even if it’s consensual. When both parties are between 9 and 17, the older person commits a crime called “criminal sexual abuse.” This offense is punishable for up to a year in jail and requires the perpetrator to register as a sex offender for 10 years but most of these cases are never prosecuted.
The most likely scenario in which Keef would face a judge is if the girl’s parents press charges. However, that hasn’t happened yet and probably won’t.
The girl is suing for an undisclosed amount of child support, including health insurance and other medical expenses.
