LaLa Anthony, Lupita Nyong’o Hit Broadway!

Last week, LaLa Anthony hinted at something “big” in the works. And now that “something” has come to light!

The entertainment personality and author has joined the producing team of the anticipated Broadway production of Eclipsed. Written by actress, Danai Guriria (The Walking Dead), the drama also marks Lupita Nyong’o’s Broadway debut.

Can we say #BlackGirlsRock?!

The celebrated play is set amid the violent chaos of the Liberian civil war, and it received critical acclaim when it was previously presented at the Public Theater.

LaLa is doing more than financially backing the project, too. In a statement to Deadline, the new producer expressed her excitement about efforts to “bring thousands of young women to see the show through its 10,000 Girls campaign.”

“What an extraordinary opportunity to pave the way for the next generation of commanding young women,”she exclaimed. “Eclipsed is a stunning new play that demands to be seen, and to make my Broadway debut as a producer with it is an honor.”

A preview for the show is slated for Feb. 23 at the Shubert Organization’s John Golden Theatre. The full run opens March 6 and closes June 19.
