Kevin Gates is not an artist who bites his tongue about anything. His latest talking crusade targets the functionality of the Black Lives Movement.
Last week, the New Orleans rapper labeled BLM as hypocritical and ignoring rate of so-called Black-on-Black violence.
“We kill each other. I’m talking about we lay up under each other’s cars, lay behind each other’s houses then whip by, boom boom, kill everybody in the car…but as soon as a white boy kills one of us, everybody go to hoopin’ and hollerin’ and all that old stupid-ass s–t …That’s bulls–t. When you stand for something, you’ve got t[o] stand for it all the way, not half way.”
The 60-second IG message also included: “N—– kill n—–. Help your brother, man, don’t hurt your brother.”
Many called Gates out for his own hypocrisy.

Gates’ statements followed back-to-back police shootings of unarmed Black men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, and the Dallas shooting which claimed the lives of five police officers and left 29 injured during a Black Lives Matter protest.
The protest started out peaceful, as many who attended stated, but then took a volatile turn. Overall, the anger, pain and disconnect between cops and the community have seemed to grow stronger. Last week, many actors and actresses in Black Hollywood, sports figures, and rap artists met to discuss ways they can use their platforms to help reform the broken and unjust system.
Since the recent attacks, Gates and his wife have once again taken to social media to share their points of view on the state of society.
The following comes after 29-year-old Gavin Long, fatally shot three police officers in Baton Rouge, LA.
Under an image of CNN’s coverage of the shooting, Gates wrote: “N***a finally stood up- The officer said there was no talking – Just shooting – key word no talking!!!”
The now-deleted series of videos also included statements condoning violence against police and “go to war for what’s right.”
“Us talking and all that, that ain’t right. But how they stood up in Baton Rouge, I can salute that.”
Gates’ wife, Dreka came through with statements of her own, which fall in line with her husband.

So…which is it? Violence is never the answer, or it’s a tool to “stand up”? It looks like Gates has some more explaining to do.
