Yeezy’s debut album College Dropout caught attention and made everyone hip to the lyrical vibration and production capability the producer had the ability to deliver.
Fast-forward to his fourth album and he flipped it with the 2008 release of the heavy auto-tuned production and love-infatuated themed, 808s & Heartbreak, that had a lot of ‘Ye fans, questioning if this was a new and permanent direction.

Apparently, so, (well, at least those who still hadn’t caught on and vibed out to the album), because Rolling Stone recently dubbed the album one of its “40 Most Groundbreaking Albums of All Time.”
That’s some major weight.
In it’s reasoning, Rolling Stone highlights “its core aesthetic was like nothing in hip-hop [and] over time it served as a new template for up-and-comers in hip-hop and R&B.”
