Kanye West’s ‘808s’ Named Groundbreaking

When you get past the passionate rants, attention-antics caused by his wife, and riffs with the paparazzi, the artistic talents that remain at the core of Kanye West shine bright.

His daring hunger to push the heights of his creativity and elevate the culture of hip-hop at a speed that may be beyond its time is absolutely undeniable.

Yeezy’s debut album College Dropout caught attention and made everyone hip to the lyrical vibration and production capability the producer had the ability to deliver.

But were we sleeping on the significance of this body of work?

That’s some major weight.

In it’s reasoning, Rolling Stone highlights “its core aesthetic was like nothing in hip-hop [and] over time it served as a new template for up-and-comers in hip-hop and R&B.”
