So… About Jordan Peele’s New HBO Show

Jordan Peele is returning to TV, and this time Underground co-creator Misha Green is coming with him.

Get Out, and WGN America’s Underground are perhaps two of the most socially relevant entertainment projects of our time. Set in the present day, Jordan Peele’s Get Out focused on liberal racism through horror, while Underground is set in the antebellum South and focuses on slavery and the Underground Railroad. Therefore, when Peele and Underground co-creator Misha Green come together, they are bound to make magic.

It seems that the duo has teamed up to bring Matt Ruff’s Lovecraft Country to HBO and it’s going to be magnetic.

Set in Chicago in 1954 (aka A Raisin in the Sun era), Lovecraft Country follows 22-year-old Army veteran Atticus Turner who sets off to New England to find his missing father, Montrose. Accompanied by his Uncle George—publisher of The Safe Negro Travel Guide—and his childhood friend Letitia the trio journey to the manor of Mr. Braithwhite—heir to the estate that owned one of Atticus’s ancestors. On the way, they encounter both mundane terrors of white America and malevolent spirits that seem straight out of the weird tales George devours. At the manor, Atticus discovers his father in chains, held prisoner by a secret cabal named the Order of the Ancient Dawn—led by Samuel Braithwhite and his son Caleb—which has gathered to orchestrate a ritual that shockingly centers on Atticus. And his one hope of salvation may be the seed of his—and the whole Turner clan’s—destruction.

Basically, it’s a combination of Get Out and Underground, and we seriously can’t even wait.

The show has received a straight to series order from HBO with Misha Green serving as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Jordan Peele will serve as an executive producer.
(YASSSSSS).

We cannot wait to see the first clips from this series. We just hope that this doesn’t mean that Underground is officially canceled.
