John Singleton’s ‘Straight Outta Heaven’ Picked Up

John Singleton has built his directorial clout by bringing the reality of the streets into the homes of many while telling authentic ‘hood stories.

With his latest series, Straight Outta Heaven, his successful urban storytelling flare will be hit with a twist of faith.

Recently purchased by The CW, Straight Outta Heaven is described as a cross between Touched by an Angel that starred Della Reese in the ’90s and the film Ghost and will be a faith-based, hip-hop infused guardian angel drama.

The drama was written and executive produced by Singleton and Dallas Jackson with an intent to serve urban youth and faith-based audience.

Singleton’s FX drama Snowball has recently been ordered to series, as well.
