After three years of silence, Matthew Sandusky, the adopted son of convicted sexual molester Jerry Sandusky, came forward to talk to Oprah about abuse he says he suffered at the hands of his father.
In a short video clip of the interview which will appear on television on July 17, Matthew Sandusky tells Oprah “At bedtime, his ritual began.”
During the trial of the former Penn State University assistant football coach, Matthew revealed to local police that Jerry started sexually abusing when he was 10. Matthew, along with 25 other men, settled a civil claim against Penn State.
Although Matthew’s account of abuse was not included in the 2012 criminal case and as such, he was awarded a financial settlement by the university. Jerry Sandusky was found guilty of sexual abusing 10 boys, landing him 30-60 years in prison.
Matthew’s interview with Oprah will be the first by any of Jerry’s children since his 2012 sex-abuse charges, Philly.com reports.
