If I were in the same room with Mark Cuban right now, I’d put an index finger gently on his lips and say “shhhhhhhh.”
The Dallas Mavericks owner and Shark Tank star decided to go ” full Cuban” on crowds at the GrowCo conference, which apparently also entailed revealing his own inner bigotry and prejudice.
Here is a sampling of what he said:
“I know I’m prejudiced and I know I’m bigoted in a lot of different ways. If I see a Black kid in a hoodie on my side of the street, I’ll move to the other side of the street. If I see a White guy with a shaved head and tattoos, I’ll move back to the other side of the street. None of us have pure thoughts; we all live in glass houses.”
I’m torn on this one. I can’t fault him on his honesty because the more effective bigotry is hidden and thus hard to destroy. But now we know why he wasn’t so quick to serve up Donald Sterling, aka Calvin Candie. Read Cuban’s other comments HERE for context than tell me what you think.
What do you think about Cuban’s comments? Is he bringing much needed truth to the race debate or did he just out himself as another person profiting off of African-Americans, yet regarding them with bias?
