The First Trailer For ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Just Arrived & It’s A Huge Riddle

The trailer for the latest film in the epic space soap opera, Star Wars has just arrived.

The first peak at Star Wars: The Last Jedi has left fans both thrilled and baffled. The film is the second in a trilogy which began with 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, The Last Jedi seems to be shrouded in mystery leaving way more questions for fans than answers.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, The Last Jedi already looks much darker than its predecessor. As spaceships go zooming across the sky, we watch Rey (Daisy Ridley) swinging her lightsaber while standing on the edge of a seaside cliff. There are snippets of a group of stormtroopers marching through fire. Also, Mark Hamill has returned fully and gloriously as Luke Skywalker. Speaking for the first time since 1983 in full Jedi gear he asks if it’s time for the Jedi to end? That is the big question isn’t it, and it looks like Disney and Lucasfilm are really holding out on this one. Star Wars fans are going to have to wait until December to see what’s going to go down.

Though we barely get a glimpse of them in the trailer, John Boyega and Lupita Nyong’o are returning to the Star Wars franchise as Finn and Maz Kanata respectively. In The Force Awakens, Finn was a former stormtrooper of the First Order who defected to the Resistance and Maz Kanata is a computer generated pirate who is finds with both Han Solo and Chewbacca. While Boyega helmed much of The Force Awakens, it’s unclear how central his character will be in this film. However, we’re hoping to see a great deal of the talented Brit.

The cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens including the late Carrie Fisher, will be returning to Jedi. Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran will also be joining the beloved franchise in super hush-hush roles. Peep the trailer below.

Are you as thrilled as we are?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to light up theaters December 15, 2017, just in time for the holidays.
