BET and Murder Inc. founder Irv “Gotti” Lorenzo just teamed up for the new anthology series Tales, and we have a sneak peek of the premiere episode, “F*ck the Police.”
The new show will use both contemporary and classic hip-hop songs and transform them into hour-long visual narratives. The series will debut with N.W.A’s “F*ck the Police.” Notorious B.I.G.’s “I Got a Story to Tell,” Meek Mill’s “Cold Hearted” and Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” will be at the center of later episodes.
Earlier this month, executive producer Gotti gave fans a sneak peak of the series at an exclusive screening in New York City. “I did it to jar an emotion, and I want that emotion,” he said of the show. “It’s the best feeling to do something that your culture gets. And let’s be clear, I want everybody in the world to love this show, but I want the hip-hop culture to love it first,” Gotti added.
Tales will premiere today, June 27, at 9 p.m. ET, and you can expect to see some famous names throughout it. Woody McClain, Keith Powers, Boris Kodjoe, Jennifer Freeman, Elise Neal, MC Lyte, Lance Gross, Christian Robinson, Matthew Noszka, Chet Hanks, Clifton Powell, Michelle Hayden, Michelle Mitchenor, Lil Duval, DC Young Fly and Rico Ball, among others, will appear in various episodes.
“F*ck the Police” stars Shameless actor Chet Hanks (who happens to be Tom Hanks’ son), Boris Kodjoe and Clifton Powell, and the episode will follow a controversial police shooting of a young boy. In the world of Tales, many of the racial biases and stereotypes that we know today will be warped into something completely different. Check out a sneak peek below.
