Thick sheets of white snow are covering the Seven Kingdoms, which means Game Of Thrones Season Seven is preparing for arrival.
HBO just dropped a new trailer for the upcoming seventh season of the much-beloved fantasy epic, and both winter and the ultimate enemy have arrived. In the trailer, House Stark’s slogan comes to life, “Winter is Coming,” and it’s brought a vicious and bloody war with it.
The trailer opens with Sansa Stark (played by Sophie Turner), an unlikely figure at the center of the war for the Iron Throne. As Sansa strolls through the fallen snow, we hear her mentor and admirer, Littlefinger (played by Aidan Gillen), offering his advice. He says, “Don’t fight in the North or the South. Fight every battle everywhere, always—in your mind.”
Still, Sansa isn’t the only one gearing up for war. Her brother Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington), who has assumed the title of King of the North, also gets some screen time. In the trailer, he says, “For centuries, our families fought together against their common enemy, despite their differences—together. We need to do the same if we’re going to survive because the enemy is real. It’s always been real.”
Targaryens, Lannisters, Greyjoys and even White Walkers also make their presence known. With this new trailer, GoT has officially announced that #WINTERISHERE. Watch the heart-stopping sequence below.
In addition to the new trailer, HBO is releasing new character posters on Twitter for the coming season. Fans can unlock the posters by tweeting different emojis with the hashtag #WinterIsHere to the official @GameOfThrones account.
Game of Thrones brings winter to HBO on Sunday, July 16, at 9 p.m. ET.
