My heart dropped when news broke that DMX wasn’t breathing and had no pulse.
I mean, I was literally scrolling his Instagram feed Monday night and laughing along as his god daughter, actress Paige Hurd, posted videos of the two of them hanging out.
So to hear that X was in serious health trouble, I just about lost my breath.
I’m an X fan and am not naive to his struggles and battle with narcotics and alcohol.
TMZ reported that initially, signs pointed to an overdose.
Yonker cops responded to a call about an unconscious male at a hotel Monday evening. Upon arrival, they found the rapper unresponsive and laying in a parking lot near a parked car. They immediately began CPR and within a minute, his pulse came back.
It’s no secret that drugs have been a painful downfall in X’s career. And throughout his career, he has made it known that he suffers from asthma. Both can make for a tragic situation.
While witnesses state that he ingested “some white powder” before losing conscious, as of this morning, X denies taking any substance and says all he remembers is having a shortness of breath after suffering from bronchitis for a couple of days. A family member also stated that they were unable to get him his inhaler in time.
He is currently in the hospital and listed in stable condition. No criminal charges are expected to be filed.
