DeVon Franklin Inks New Deal with Sony Pictures

Well, this is surely a good look for DeVon Franklin, who in addition to being an ordained minister, author and husband to actress Meagan Good, also runs a full production company, Franklin Entertainment and served as senior vice president for Columbia Pictures. Whew! Brother is busy. Adding to that all-star line-up is a freshly inked first-look production deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment where he will produce projects for television and film.

Sweeet.

For nine years, Franklin worked with Sony to develop and produce commercial material as well as took on the responsibility of overseeing successful projects such as “The Pursuit of Happyness”, “The Karate Kid (Jaden Smith version),” “Heaven is For Real,” and “Sparkle”. With this new deal, he will continue to advance his storytelling across both faith-based and mainstream markets.

“This is a plan tailor-made for DeVon’s specific skill set and interests. It’s clear that his ambition was to get closer to the product and maintain his speaking and writing career,” Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, told Indiewire.com.

With more projects on the horizon, DeVon is truly an example of how one can navigate through Hollywood without compromising his faith and vision.
