The drama has subsided and actor Columbus Short seems to be spending his time “pushing the industry forward” with a gang of projects in development.
While promoting his Spike Lee-executive produced film, The Girl is in Trouble, Short teased that an Empire appearance “wouldn’t be a shock” as he is also musically talented. The comments came during an interview with E!.
That wasn’t all the former Scandal actor hinted towards.
In a recent interview with Shadow and Act, Columbus said he is collaborating with Bounce TV president Ryan Glover, radio personality Russ Parr and Swirl Films to produce a Gospel-esque version of Empire for the network. Gospel songstress, Kim Burrell is also listed as an executive producer on the project.
In addition to wearing the producer’s hat, there’s also talks of a music competition in the works. Columbus said the show would be similar to American Idol but based in Africa.
