Chief Keef is planning to hold a benefit concert in honor of a 1-year-old boy struck by a vehicle fleeing from a shooting that left one of the rapper’s associates dead.
The show, which will take place from a soundstage in Beverly Hills, Ca., is free, but concertgoers are encouraged to give donations that will benefit the family of Dillan Harris, the slain toddler. The Chicago native will appear in a hologram as he cannot attend in person due to outstanding warrants.
Police say Harris was killed when a car hit his stroller. The driver was allegedly the suspect in a shooting that left 22-year-old Marvin Carr, an aspiring lyricist and friend of Chief Keef, dead.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the 19-year-old was “so heartbroken and appalled” that he wanted to do something for the family.
Not everyone is impressed by his efforts though. Father Michael Pfleger, an Illinois-based priest, took to Facebook to denounce the artist’s notion.
“…REALLY…Chief Keef is one of the reasons we have all this violence. he has been one of the encourager’s of the Violence…..Instead of having a concert…why doesn’t he Man Up and acknowledge it’s time to stop this violence and Apologize for his part in it!!!! we don’t need a concert…we need PEACE…SHUT UP!!!!!,” he wrote.
