This week is a major WIN for Black women everywhere!
First, the always flawless Lupita Nyong’o was named People’s “Most Beautiful” and now, Queen Bey herself has been crowned Time’s “Most Influential.”
Can we get an AMEN?
In the tribute to Beyonce, Facebook COO and LeanIn.org founder Sheryl Sandberg writes: “She raises her voice both on- and offstage to urge women to be independent and lead.”
Other Black honorees on Time’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” list include President Barack Obama; super-producer Pharrell Williams; Scandal actress Kerry Washington; Jason Collins, the NBA’s first openly gay player; NFL player Richard Sherman and tennis player Serena Williams among other notable honorees.
While Nyong’o isn’t featured on Time’s list, she did write the tribute to 12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen.
