#BlackGirlMagic Is Sprinkled Throughout ‘The Incredible Jessica James’ Trailer

Jessica Williams has moved on from The Daily Show and landed on Netflix with her own flick, The Incredible Jessica James.

In 2012, Williams was hired as the first Black female correspondent on The Daily Show. In 2016, she bid the late night show farewell and moved on to other projects including her hilarious podcast 2 Dope Queens, with her BFF Phoebe Robinson. She also took her talent to the big screen in the new Netflix romantic comedy The Incredible Jessica James.

In the film, Williams stars as Jessica James, an aspiring NYC playwright, who is struggling to get over a recent breakup. She sees the light at the end of the tunnel when she meets the recently divorced Boone (Chris O’Dowd). Together, they discover how to make it through the tough times while realizing they like each other—a lot. Get Out’s Lakeith Stanfield also stars in the film. Peep the trailer below.

The Incredible Jessica James isn’t the only thing the 27-year-old has her hands in these days. Though she left The Daily Show, Williams still has a development deal with the network. According to Variety, she will write, produce and star in the pilot for a half-hour scripted series produced by Naomi Ekperigin (Broad City) that will center on “a politically minded young woman who may be ‘woke’ but doesn’t know what she’s doing,” according to the official description. It sounds pretty lit to us.

Until then, you can catch The Incredible Jessica James on Netflix when it drops July 28.
