To this day, there are words I refuse to repeat, such as “candyman” five times in a mirror, all thanks to these movies to follow. In honor of Halloween and Throwback Thursday, take a walk down Memory Lane and count down old-school horror movie characters of color.
Some of them even made it to the end credits! Fair warning: Some spoilers ahead…
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The character Ben (played by actor Duane Jones) was the hero of the movie, which was quite uncommon for a Black man in 1968. Nevertheless (spoiler alert) he was killed in the end by a member of a sheriff’s posse who mistakes him for a zombie (Sounds like something I’d see on the 10 o’clock news).
