Beyoncé Directs, Stars in New HBO Doc

By// Mariah Craddick

Beyoncé Knowles is notoriously private about her personal life, but that’s about to change due to an upcoming feature-length HBO documentary directed by the diva.

“Everybody knows Beyoncé’s music, but few know Beyoncé the person,” Michael Lombardo, president of HBO’s programming division, said in a statement released to the press. “Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.”

The film is said to strip away “the veneer of stardom,” and delve into the singer’s life in the studio, on the road, on stage and most interestingly, at home as mother to Blue Ivy and wife to Sean “Jay-Z” Carter.

“Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming,”  Knowles said in the statement. “This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home.”

The untitled project is set to premiere on Feb. 16.
