BET Welcomes Melissa Harris-Perry To The Family

If you didn’t get the memo by now, Melissa Harris-Perry can’t be stopped. We all know the story of her leaving MSNBC and while we hated to see her go, the journalist hasn’t skipped a beat since. A few months ago she headed to Elle.com and now she’s adding BET to her resume.

Harris-Perry will join BET News as a special correspondent. Not only will she host and contribute to various BET News programs, she’ll also develop longform news specials. Her first assignment? The 2016 election, of course. She will be co-anchoring election coverage for the Republican and Democratic National Conventions along with BET News correspondent Marc Lamont Hill, who recently made a boss move of his own.

Melissa Harris-Perry will add this position to her current list of important work: shes’s the Maya Angelou Presidential Chair at Wake Forest University, the Executive Director of the Pro Humanitate Institute, founding director of the Anna Julia Cooper Center, and is also an award-winning author of several books including Barbershops, Bibles, and BET: Everyday Talk and Black Political Thought (how appropriate right?)

We’re excited to see more of her #blackgirlmagic on the small screen, congrats Melissa!
