BARBERSHOP: THE NEXT CUT
Acclaimed director Malcolm D. Lee is at it again with another sequel to the Barbershop franchise starring Ice Cube. Cube, who plays Calvin in the film series, combines the barbershop with Angie’s beauty salon (played by Regina Hall) that tests the cohesiveness between men and women, while also tackling issues related to Chicago’s violence epidemic.

THE JUNGLE BOOK
This modern take on the classic children’s book and animated film from 1967 follows Mowgli and his furry friends on an adventure through the jungle as he learns about survival and self-discovery. If you’re a fan of 3D special effects, this is the film to watch. We can also look forward to some familiar voices with Idris Elba (as Shere Khan), Lupita Nyong’o (as Raksha), and Giancarlo Esposito (as Akela).

CONFIRMATION
Actress Kerry Washington stars in this political drama based on the alleged sexual harassment of Anita Hill by then Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas, played by Wendell Pierce. The film also stars Jennifer Hudson and Jeffery Wright.

ECHO PARK
Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY film distribution company released their thirteenth theatrical film, Echo Park, which follows Sophie (Mamie Gummer), a woman running away from her life of status and security in a diverse East Los Angeles neighborhood. As she struggles to detach herself from the stigma of her environment, she begins to develop a romance with Alex (Anthony Okungbowa), who is also looking for a new start in life.
