Aretha Franklin has performed for some of the greatest entertainers and activists of our time, including President Barack Obama. Now, she’s adding Pope Francis to her list.
On Monday, it was announced that the “Queen of Soul” will be among the artists performing for Pope Francis at the Festival of Families. The event is set to take place Saturday, Sept. 26.
“It is indeed a blessing to sing in the presence of His Holiness and to the attendees of the Festival of Families in the City of Brotherly Love,” Franklin said in a statement. “I look forward to this event. Be blessed!”
The legendary songstress is joining a lineup that already includes The Fray, Jim Gaffigan and many more.
