Last week, news circulated with Hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa at the center of molestation allegations.
Ronald Savage, now 50, shared his story and detailed his emotional struggles following the alleged abuse and now three more men have come forward with claims that they too were molested by the Zulu Nation founder in the 1980s.
Among the most recent accusers are Hassan Campbell, 39; a New York man who requested anonymity, now 50; and a 51-year old former New Yorker named Troy, the New York Daily News reports.
Campbell, who once looked to Bambaataa as a father figure that took care of him when he needed a meal, money or even a place to stay due to troubles at home, stated that his alleged abuse took place when he was 12 and 13-years-old.
Troy’s anger has not dissipated, he says. “I’ve been dealing with this for years. It’s a shame it didn’t come out earlier.”
The men also claim that Bambaataa often showed them pornographic pictures and videos before allegedly performing sexual acts on them.
Savage, who is a supporter of the Child Victim Act, is hoping that more people speak up and eventually force state lawmakers to reform New York’s statute of limitations for sex abuse cases, which bars child victims from pursuing criminal charges or civil litigation after their 23rd birthday.
“He’s a manipulator and a liar,” Campbell told the Daily News. “He’s just waiting for this chaos to blow over so he can go back to his dark, dingy hole and go back to his old ways. He needs to put down the candy and let the little boys go.”
Neither Bambaataa nor his attorney have commented on the most recent allegations, though he did release a statement to Rolling Stone calling prior accusations “baseless” and “cowardly.”
