Rapper turned mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson was approved for a promoter’s license by the Nevada State Boxing Commission, according to ESPN.com.
Jackson originally intended to team up with professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. to promote under the company name TMT Promotions (The Money Team), but after disagreements, the two parted professionally. The company is now titled SMS Promotions.
“As he [Mayweather] came out of incarceration…he decided he wanted to do things differently,” Jackson said during the questioning process. “But I had already invested $1.5 million in acquiring fighters and I would like to move forward.”
Mayweather was released August 3 after spending two months in a county jail in Las Vegas.
Jackson and Mayweather recently came to verbal blows on Twitter following the apparent dissolution of their partnership, but last week Jackson admitted the whole beef was a hoax for attention.
“I’m sick of all this nonsense Floyd asked me to act like were fighting cause no on was paying attention after his 60 days. #SMSaudio,” he tweeted.
Jackson gained his promoter’s license in New York under the company name TMT earlier this year.
