Breakout star, Ajiona Alexus is about to break in — literally.

Ajiona Alexus is a newbie to the television landscape. She may look familiar if you watched Empire where she played a young Cookie Lyon. Or if you tuned in to Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why you’ll recognize her as popular girl Sheri Holland. Next up is her feature film debut opposite Gabrielle Union in the Will Packer-produced thriller, Breaking In.

Alexus is set to portray Jasmine, Shaun’s (Union) daughter who is described as smart but extremely stubborn. Deadline reports, Breaking In follows Shaun, a single mom who moves to Malibu with her two kids to settle her father’s estate following his death. It’s up to Shaun to ward off some dangerous criminals who threaten her family during a home invasion. The whole thing sounds very reminiscent of Jennifer Lopez’s 2002 film Enough if we’re keeping it real.

Breaking In won’t be the only time the Alabama native will grace the big screen next year. She is also set to star in Tyler Perry’s She’s Living My Life with her Empire co-star Taraji P. Henson. Ironically, she will also play a younger version of Henson’s character Melinda.

There is no word yet on when Breaking In will hit theaters, but filming is set to begin this month. Union will also serve as an executive producer on this project. Tyler Perry’s She’s Living My Life will premiere March 30, 2018.
