Darryl “DMC” McDaniels
The hip-hop pioneer was the product of a teen mother who gave him up at 3-months-old. Adopted by Byford and Banna McDaniels, DMC didn’t know about his birth mother until he was 35. His journey to find his true family was chronicled in a VH1 documentary in 2006 dubbed DMC: My Adoption Journey.
