Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief

The Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief is responsible for providing administrative and editorial support to the Editor-in-Chief and to the JET editorial staff at large when needed.

Candidates should possess a zeal for detail, the ability to multitask efficiently, superior written and verbal skills, and a demonstrated interest in journalism and pop-culture writing.

The role presents a unique opportunity to work at a fast-paced, multi-platform media company, and to work closely with Editor-in-Chief. The successful candidate may be called on to transcribe a celebrity interview one week, pitch a Snapchat or Facebook Live story idea at a social media meeting the next, and help plan a trip to Fashion Week the following. In between, they will certainly arrange conference calls, book travel, and help get the Editor from point A to point B.

General responsibilities include:

Provide administrative support to the Editor-in-Chief, including:

  • Answering phone calls Calendar management, including coordinating and supporting the Editor-in-Chief’s meeting and event schedule
  • Booking and coordination of all aspects of travel
  • Managing high-volume email communication, tracking and responding to key industry connections
  • Coordinating various staff meetings
  • Attending editorial meetings
  • Managing expenses

Provide editorial support to the Editor-in-Chief, including:

  • Occasional research for pieces, transcription
  • Assisting with interview or presentation preparation
  • Potential to contribute to the magazine, website, video and social media teams when time allows

Requirements:

  • College Degree

Beauty Writer: Skincare

We’re looking for a sharp beauty writer with an encyclopedic knowledge of beauty and a distinct point of view. This position is perfect for someone with 2-4 years of experience who can generate stories on deadline. Must be a skilled writer, a highly motivated self-starter, and someone with a positive attitude, digital publishing knowledge, and a desire to reach women through beauty. Contacts within the industry are preferred. A passion for beauty and a sense of humor are an absolute must.

Job Description

The Entertainment Writer will cover TV, movies, music, books, and all aspects of pop culture. The primary focus of this job is trending news, traffic-driving stories, and second-day pieces that keep the JETmag voice and brand in mind.

Responsibilities

  • Write five stories per day.
  • Maintain an extensive knowledge of trending entertainment news and upcoming pop culture trends.
  • Pitch creative and original feature stories on a weekly basis.
  • Ability to turn around clean copy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Update evergreen slideshows multiple times per day
  • Strong editorial voice that upholds the JETmag brand and pushes the conversation forward.

Social Media Editor

Responsibilities:

  • Work with JETmag’s editorial team every weekend to triage promotion of content across Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter
  • Package editorial content with optimal social positioning, including image selection, headline testing, and writing and editing compelling callouts and copy
  • Keep traffic up from Saturday morning through Monday morning on Facebook, IG, and Twitter

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with editorial team to illustrate various stories across the site for categories ranging in Entertainment, Beauty, Fashion, Global News
  •  Discerning appropriate imagery for sensitive breaking news stories that involve violence or natural disasters
  • Vast knowledge of photo agencies and pricing structures as well as licensing terms.

JETmag is looking for a hard-working, conscientious Email Production Assistant to join our Brand Experiences and Growth teams. This position is perfect for someone who loves to read copy and HTML code, write snappy headlines, and is very organized and meticulous.

JET is looking for creators, storytellers, and collaborators. The video intern should be interested in the process of sourcing pitches and be packaging these stories for our JET audience.

JET is hiring an Influencer Campaign Coordinator in Los Angeles! The Influencer Campaign Coordinator will work on all aspects of custom campaigns between advertisers and CMG’s network of bloggers, influencers, and tastemakers. The ideal candidate has a strong familiarity with the influencer landscape and an understanding of how brands leverage talent to support their overall advertising and marketing objectives. This person will be responsible for fulfilling influencer-driven content programs and delivering best-in-class service and performance to both CMG’s advertisers and influencers.

This position is located in Los Angeles, CA and reports to the Executive Editor.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the execution of sponsored content campaigns involving influencers, including talent outreach, negotiations, briefing, asset collection, and post-campaign analysis
  • Serve as a liaison between talent and CMG’s advertisers to ensure campaign objectives and deliverables are communicated to influencers
  • Execute talent contracts and negotiations with precision and skill
  • Work collaboratively with the branded content team to create custom creative briefs for each campaign that marry the influencer’s DNA and brand’s KPIs
  • Track multiple timelines and budgets to ensure campaigns stay on track and deadlines are met
  • Work in tandem with client services team to facilitate content approvals, and continually updates internal teams as needed on status
