A 15-year-old transgender female who was stabbed while riding the Metro in D.C is recovering from her injuries.
Her attacker, Reginald Anthony Klaiber has been charged with assault using a deadly weapon and could face a longer sentence if the case is proved to be a hate crime, reports NBC Washington.
Klaiber reportedly approached the teenager and her friends on the Green Line. Klaiber made a comment about the teen’s red hair. When the teen responded in alarm, Klaiber retorted, “Oh you’re a man!” a friend of the victim told the Washington Blade.
Klaiber proceeded to taunt the young girl about her appearance, made verbal threats and allegedly stabbed the teenager.
