Lee Daniels Feted with “Hollywood Director Award”

The wins just keep coming for The Butler‘s director Lee Daniels. From spending three weeks straight at the top of the box office to garnering early Oscar whispers about his star-studded film, the veteran filmmaker will now be honored at the 17th Annual Hollywood Film Awards.

Snagging the “Hollywood Director Award,” Daniels will be recognized at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Oct. 21 along with one of his stars’ David Oyelowo, who will receive the “New Hollywood Award.”

“It’s a great honor for us to recognize Lee’s outstanding work with this top directing honor of the year. His tremendous vision and versatility provides us with films that are both critical and box office successes,” said Carlos de Abreu, founder and executive producer of the 17th annual event.

Congratulations, Mr. Daniels!
