Though his early tweets via @3rdeyegirl were more on the teasing side, he definitely showed his amusing sense of humor and penchant for controversy, as Mashable reports. Looking forward to following him from here to Under the Cherry Moon. Let’s just hope he doesn’t get bored and dip out on us.
And now, for other goings on that were not so…ahem…pleasant.
Injustice for Trayvon
A Florida police officer got his triflin’ tail fired after having a virtual celebration of Trayvon Martin’s death. This fool actually had the nerve to post the words: “Another thug gone. Pull up your pants and be respectful. Bye bye thug r.i.p.” on his Facebook following George Zimmerman’s acquittal, per the Daytona Beach News Journal. Clearly having not read about the other teams of ne’er do wells who have lost employment over ig’nant social media antics, Mr. Officer Todd Snipes earned a pink slip for his actions. Seriously, if this is what we have protecting our streets, I’ll take my chances.

Weeds
Why on earth would you attempt to buy pot via Twitter? Well, you can ask the would-be weedhead who got fired (see above post for how that works) after this lil’ request: “Any dealers in Vaughan wanna make a 20sac chop?” Well, the dealers might not have come running, but the Toronto mechanic attracted the attention of police and a score of re-tweeters, according to Fox News. Needless to say, he’s in somebody’s unemployment line. Moment of silence for SMHing.
Map Quest
Boy, some of these Republican lawmakers need to get as far away from social media as possible. That is definitely the case for Republican Steve Lonegan, who is running against Newark Mayor Cory Booker for a Senate seat. The GOPer’s campaign sent a tweet, since deleted, at Booker that said “#breaking just leaked – Cory Booker’s foreign policy debate prep notes,” accompanied with a racially charged map of Newark, redrawn. Politico, of course, caught that arse so here’s what was taken down. I would suggest all involved in this nonsense not only have a seat, some folk may even want to take this moment to recline all the way back until their senses return to them.
No New Friends
Hold up! Is this a case of the couple that slays together stays together? I had to add the antics of Kim Kardashian who called Katie Couric’s wholesome self all the way out out by posting on Instagram a typo-laden card she sent for North…this after the popular talkshow host recently told In Touch Weekly she had no idea why Kim was so popular and hinted it was the collective zeal of teenage girls. The posted (slightly edited) response:

Well! While I don’t fault Kim for being miffed at having her reign over pop culture questioned by a so-called friend, it definitely sounds like some snap-back behavior she might have learned from hanging ’round her glib, media-hating man. Or is this a hack? I just hope Kimmy can handle the whole weight if Katie comes back for her. Youch.
Underground Outrage
And last, but certainly not least, I saved a special vat of venom for Russell Simmons aka Uncle Rush for the terrible, and I do mean, terrible and offensive YouTube video that was given a platform on his All Def Digital platform. This supposed (and now snatched down) sex tape between Harriet Tubman and a “massa” whom she later blackmails makes me want to throw up in my mouth. Simmons took it down, but you can still view it here. There are goofballs out here who don’t know what Harriet Tubman did to help free the slaves at enormous personal risk. They only hear about her in February for five minutes. My JPC colleague Jamilah Lamieux destroyed Uncle Rush so decisively, that I need not go on, but he definitely wins the Keeping it 140 Scarlet Letter for this thoughtless, unfunny and disgusting slap in the face to one one of our greatest sheroes. And that apology? Did he seek counsel from the same team who sent Chris Brown on Larry King in a bow tie ?
