An investigation is underway after a noose was found hanging from a tree on Duke University’s campus, reports WRAL-TV, an affiliate of CBS Raleigh.
The Duke Chronicle reported that the noose was removed around 2:45 am at the Bryan Center plaza.
Larry Moneta, the Vice President of Student Affairs sent an email to students addressing the offensive discovery and confirming its removal. That message is below.

Duke’s Black Student Alliance are expected to meet on campus for a silent march demonstration to the Bryan Center and forum is scheduled for 5p.m. to discuss the the racist act.
Authorities are looking to identify the person(s) responsible.
