After an attention-grabbing debate with legal analyst Nancy Grace on the subject of legalizing weed, 2 Chainz has moved past the idea of a rematch, but upped the ante with talk of running for Mayor in his College Park, GA. hometown.
Granted, the rapper scores big when it comes to academics with a 4.0 GPA from Alabama State University but politics though?
That’s a new arena and would definitely extend beyond the controversial discussion surrounding the legalization of marijuana.
And he knows this.
Although his hometown supporters are encouraging him to make the political move, the rapper is being realistic and stated in a recent XXL interview, “I’m a musician, not a politician. I’m supposed to be running for mayor in College Park. I got everybody wishing. I’m really gonna do this little mayor thing in College Park. I’m just trying to make sure I have the right qualifications.”
First, calling it a “little mayor thing” shows a lackadaisical attitude toward the action.
Second, a 4.0 and “win” over Nancy Grace may be a plus, but as stated having the “right qualifications” could be an issue out of the gate. And then, there’s the lyrical content.
